Harold Pinter’s black comedy/drama The Dumb Waiter Directed by Ahmed El-Alfy PRODUCED by JENNY LUN |
||
|
STARRING Grahame Carder Paul Sheehan Nobel laureate Harold Pinter
(1930-2008) wrote The Dumb Waiter in 1958. The play, directed here by Ahmed El
Alfy, revolves around BEN and GUS, two hitmen waiting in a basement for news
of their next job, and a dumb-waiter (a small, box-like lift used for
conveying food from one floor to another) which keeps descending from the
now-defunct restaurant above with food orders – much to the duo’s bafflement. |

GAELLE GOGNAU
SAM KEOGH AMANDA BURTON Christopher Durang’s play sees Sister
Mary Ignatius giving a lecture – mainly on her
favorite subjects of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory – and of course including her
usual description of which sins send you to hell (“murder, sex outside marriage, hijacking a
plane, masturbation”). The class of 1959 are returning to their beloved
Catholic school to see her. Four of them were among her best students… or
were they? Says Meaghan McGurgan, director of this production: “Warning: This
satire contains adult language, loud noises and sarcasm! All those with a
sense of humor are welcome!” |
