director, Adam Harris. For his script for the 1987 film Moonstruck, Shanley won the Oscar® for best original
screenplay. More recently he directed his own screenplay for the
critically-acclaimed Doubt in 2008, adapted from his own play of the same
name. The plays take an uncompromising and unflinching look at honestly-drawn,
poignant and often lonely characters in New York City. |

DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA An explosive study of
alienation and the redemptive power of love. DANNY (Rob Archibald) and
ROBERTA (Liz Merendino) collide – hostile and desperate – in a dive in The
Bronx. DANNY’s nickname is THE BEAST and his violent emotions may have driven
him to murder. ROBERTA’s dark past has left her a seething, self-loathing
woman with no foreseeable future. They strike up a conversation and end up
spending the night together, and so begins their funny, frightening and
ultimately fascinating relationship. Listen to the RTHK radio interview with director Adam Harris. THE RED COAT
The story of an encounter between two teenagers (Danni Cullen and Chris Carroll)
on a city street late one night, this play is the study of the uncertainty
and optimism of youth. If love can happen in a moment, does anything
afterwards ever look the same? Directed by Micha Sparrow. WELCOME TO THE MOON stars Josh Blue, Shiona Carson, Michael Dempsey,
David Oxley and Greg Hunt. The play takes a darkly funny look at the things
that change as people get older. In this reunion among friends at a Bronx
bar, sooner or later, everyone may have a secret they have to confess.
Directed by Micha Sparrow. |
