MISCAST is a
cabaret-style event, showcasing Hong Kong's best musical theatre talents.
In a very special twist, the performers will sing songs from roles
specifically written for a different gender, race and age. In breaking
such labels and limitations, the evening will become a fresh and
innovative take on beloved classics and contemporaries, and offer
audiences a rare evening of pure liberated celebration of music. Some
stunning women's voices will thrill audiences with their renditions of
male classics like "Bring Him Home" (Les Miserables)
and "Agony" (Into the Woods), whilst the male cast members will
take on such diva staples as "And I'm Telling You" (Dreamgirls) and "No Time At All" (Pippin).
In celebration of a
love for music without labels, MISCAST will debut as a fundraiser to
fight a disease that doesn't discriminate against gender, race or age.
Net proceeds will go to The Society For AIDS Care to support direct
patient care services to children, adults and elderly people living with
HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and their care-givers in the community. This event will
take place on Sunday November 30th, the night before World AIDS Day.

PREMIERING NEXT
WEEK!
Presented by
RyeT
Entertainment
in
cooperation Clark Consulting Ltd.
and American
Community Theater
Jean Genet’s
macabre drama, The Maids

Directed by Arvin Robles (ACT President)
and Tina Ganguly Whitwell (ACT
Playbill Manager)
Featuring La Chiquitta,
Moe Moss
and Zaza Zacob
Jean Genet's
masterpiece, The Maids (translated to English by Bernard Frechtman), tells the story of siblings Solange and Claire, two maids who love and
hate their Madame with a
passion. By writing anonymous letters to the police, they have denounced
their Madame's lover, whom
they later on find out was to be released from lack of substantial
evidence. Fearing that what they have done would be discovered when Monsieur comes back home, they
try to murder their Madame, but...
Set against
a luxury residence at Repulse Bay in modern-day Hong Kong, Jean Genet's
classic is given a contemporary and conceptualized re-envisioning by one
of Hong Kong's most prolific and versatile directors, ACT President Arvin
Robles (fresh off the success of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown)
and veteran ACT Playbill Manager Tina Ganguly
Whitwell (Cabot Lane). This production boasts a visual feast with
stunning costume designs by Chris Arzaga,
piercing lighting and set designs by HK theatre connoisseur Ernie Corpus,
dramatic makeup design by Joshua James Aquino Pagtalunan
and spectacular hair design and styling from Toni & Guy.
The elusive
but volatile MADAME is given a complex and layered portrayal by one of
the theatre scene's most multifaceted actresses, Moe Moss. Leading
performer La Chiquitta is one of the most
prominent and prolific drag artistes in Hong Kong. Along with newcomer ZaZa Zacob, they bring to
life the poetic, grotesque, and sometimes cathartic journey of Solange and Claire through a maze of lies,
deception and self-loathing in order to emerge "beautiful, joyous,
drunk and free!".
